Siberian Plague Fears Persist Despite Russia’s Completed Health Checks
Russia has completed health monitoring of everyone who had contact with a laboratory worker who died at a Siberian plague research institute, authorities said Thursday, reiterating that tests of nearly 5,000 samples had found no dangerous pathogens.
Statements from Russia’s health watchdog and the regional governor said the checks on contacts of Darya Shipilova, 28, had concluded. Irkutsk Governor Igor Kobzev said the investigation had been conducted thoroughly despite intense media attention.
