By Iceland Review

A four-day celebration of Nordic cinema will bring six films nominated for the 2026 Nordic Council Film Prize to Bíó Paradís in Reykjavík from October 15 to 18.

All six films will be shown with English subtitles. The programme, organised with the Stockfish festival, also includes visiting guests, question-and-answer sessions, special events and a panel on Nordic filmmaking.

Six Nordic Prize Nominees Will Screen with English Subtitles in Reykjavík
  • The Reykjavík programme runs from Thursday, October 15, through Sunday, October 18.
  • Six Nordic Council-nominated films will screen with English subtitles.
  • The weekend also includes international guests, Q&As and a Nordic film-industry panel.
The Programme Spans Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, Norway and the Faroe Islands

The festival opens with the Finnish film A Light That Never Goes Out on Thursday. Sweden’s Kevlar Soul follows on Friday.

Saturday’s programme pairs Iceland’s The Love That Remains with Denmark’s Beginnings. Norway’s Sentimental Value and the Faroese film Birita screen on Sunday.

The event adds to a year-round programme at Reykjavík’s independent cinema, which also hosts the Reykjavík Children’s Film Festival and other international showcases. It is organised with Stockfish, whose 2026 festival programme also combined public screenings and film-industry events.

For international residents and visitors, the English subtitles make the entire programme accessible. Iceland Review has previously highlighted films at the Reykjavík International Film Festival and the launch of an Icelandic queer film festival at Bíó Paradís.
