Bulgarian Health Fund Finds More Than €1 Million in Pharmacy Irregularities
Bulgaria’s National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has identified violations involving more than €1 million in funds received without legal grounds during coordinated inspections of 21 pharmacies across 12 regions, the fund announced.
The inspections were carried out jointly by the NHIF, the State Agency for National Security (SANS), the Economic Police at the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Health. The irregularities involved dispensed medicines for which the national drug number did not match the product code, known as the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN).
