Challenges faced by female senior executives in the light of dramatic environmental changes

Climate change not only threatens the future of our planet but also exacerbates social inequalities, with women disproportionately represented among the most vulnerable. According to the United Nations’ worst-case climate scenario, up to 158 million women and girls could be thrust into deep poverty by 2050. Organized by ESSCA Budapest on October 5th, 2026, at the French Institute, the Global Five 2026 conference brought participants together to examine the complex challenges faced by female senior executives. The discussions explored how worsening inequalities impact women’s roles and opportunities, and evaluated the extent to which female leaders can successfully integrate the effects of environmental change into their corporate strategies and daily operations.
